CREDIT joins the AI4Manufacturing community to drive increased collaboration for circularity and recycling

The CREDIT project consortium is pleased to announce its participation in the AI4manufacturing community, a Europe-wide hub that contributes to innovation in the manufacturing industry through AI.

This community supports learning and communication among participating experts and organisations.

Advancing Circular Remanufacturing Through the CREDIT Project

The CREDIT project is advancing sustainable manufacturing by enabling the circular remanufacturing of components and products. Fully aligned with Horizon Europe’s      Made in Europe innovation agenda, CREDIT seeks to reduce environmental impact while fostering a smarter, more resilient industrial ecosystem.

At the heart of the project lies a human-centred approach to addressing the key challenges of circular remanufacturing. CREDIT focuses on the digitalisation of assets, the creation of multi-layered Digital Twins, and the development of an open-source ICT platform that connects and enhances manufacturing processes. This digital framework is complemented by advanced services, including AI-based decision support, DLT-driven traceability and quality control, predictive maintenance, and Augmented Reality tools that assist in remanufacturing operations.

A key enabler of this transformation is the creation of Digital Twins of remanufactured products. These virtual counterparts make it possible to monitor product condition, track lifecycle history, and identify optimal reuse strategies. By leveraging these insights, the CREDIT project enhances efficiency and reliability in remanufacturing processes, reduces the risk of defects or failures, and supports better resource and inventory management. In doing so, CREDIT’s use of Digital Twins provides greater visibility, control, and data-driven decision-making—unlocking the full potential of circular remanufacturing to deliver sustainable and cost-effective solutions.

CREDIT’s impact spans multiple industries, including white goods, automotive, telecommunications, and aerospace, through five business use cases designed to reach TRL7. These use cases will demonstrate the replicability and scalability of CREDIT’s platform across diverse sectors.

CREDIT’s participation in the AI4Manufacturing community hub brings its human‑centred approach to remanufacturing and circularity into the core of Europe’s AI‑driven manufacturing innovation ecosystem. This collaboration strengthens the push for more self‑sufficient, resilient and sustainable production while linking CREDIT’s work with a dynamic network of leading AI projects and practitioners across Europe.

The project is implemented by a consortium comprising: IDENER (Coordinator), Munster Technological UniversityFarplasGorenje, PROFEN, the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (iED)Crowdhelix, the University of Ljubljana, Technische Universität Chemnitz, Turkish Aerospace, IDEKO, and Soraluce

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101138182.
